National Paints Epoxy Thinner is a solvent used with epoxy coatings to reduce their thickness and make them easier to apply. It helps improve the flow, leveling, and smoothness of epoxy paint when using a brush, roller, or spray. Typically, a small amount (around 5–15%) is added based on the application method, and it’s also commonly used to clean painting tools like spray guns and brushes after use.
It is a flammable liquid made from strong solvents (like xylene and similar chemicals), so it must be handled carefully. Always use it in a well-ventilated area and wear basic protective equipment such as gloves and a mask. It does not add strength to the coating—its job is only to adjust viscosity and improve application, so using too much can weaken the final paint performance.
