BUSTAN COAT bitumen emulsion is an emulsified thixotropic water based bitumen protective coating. It is specially used to provide damp proofing for underground concrete structures and as a protective coating for roofing systems and other exposed surfaces. When dries it forms a black flexible protective film and it provides a though barrier to vapor transmission. It is resistant to chloride and sulphate attack that are present in the soil.
All surfaces to be coated should be thoroughly clean before bitumen coat is applied. Remove all dust, dirt, rust, oil, grease and any loose particle, which may affect the adhesion of the coating with the substrate. Application can be done with roller, brush and airless spray. Mix the content of the drum or pail thoroughly before application. Apply Bustan Coat on the substrate at the thickness of 125 microns. Further coats shall be applied only after the previous coat is completely cured. A Prime coat is recommended before the application of the first coat. The primer coat can be made by diluting the same coat bitumen emulsion with 20% water.
